This is a 100% original German M42 restored helmet, re-painted to a three color Normandy camo scheme . This helmet has been stamped EF, indicating it was made by the Emaillerwerk factory, in Fulda Germany . Unfortunately this helmet may have a dark side, this factory is the only known helmet manufacture who employed slave labor. Records show that this Emaillerwerk used Jews, Poles and Ukrainians to make helmet for the German military. This helmet is in great shape with no rust pins or cracks or weld. The helmet was painted field gray and lightly textured with aluminum oxide powder, just like the German factories used durring the war (not sand). The helmet was then over-sprayed with tan, grass green, and reddish-brown, these tended to be the most common colors on Normandy helmet. The helmet was then fitted with a heavy gauge hand woven 5 twist chicken-wire full basket. The wire is a perfect reproduction of 1940s single twist zinc plated farm wire. The wine has been heavily aged and shows patched of rust who the zinc plating has worn away. This sort of ageing would have been consistent with a helmet that spent a lot of time on the Normandy coast being exposed to the consistent moister. As you can see in the photo a 1942 dated ink inspectors acceptance has been added as was seen on many originals. The liner on this helmet is a very fine European reproduction. The band has been aged as well the zinc plating is no longer bright and shiny. The band is very dull, also consistent with having been exposed to a lot of moister. The leather has also been aged, but I used natural means, and not dye. The liner looks original. The chinstrap is a perfect reproduction. I have heavily aged the leather. It is very soft and pliable. It looks and feels like a well taken care of original. The hardware has all been painted field gray, as was done with most originals after 1940. As you can see from the photo the strap is maker marked and dated 1942. The maker in this case was in fact a real chinstrap manufacture durring the war. All and all this is a museum quality reproduction helmet. It will look perfect on your shelf as a collector or in the field for a re-enactor. The big difference between this restored helmet and the real deal is the price, (and the faint smell of new paint ) I offer a life time guarantee that this helmet shell is a 100% original, and was manufactured between August 1942 and April 1945. Let me know if you have questions I will ship world-wide. T are no banned symbols on this helmet at all!
