German Imperial holster for Mauser model 14 pistols of World War I origin. Holster is made of dark brown solid cowhide leather with all stitchings tight. Only the spare mag pouch looks re-sewn to me (see that only every second stitching hole is used; that is unusual). But the rest is guaranteed left in the original as issued state. The holster is hallmarked by the manufacturer and the vintage: Franz Herrmann -Erfurt - 1918 Additionally we find another but rare marking present on this particular holster. It consists of an Eagle with underneath lettering J. Erfurt This represents the military Infantry ordnance depot located in the city of Erfurt responsible for the procurement of raw materials like cow hide which was then distributed to the saddlery shops in charge of manufacturing field gear articles thereof. Such markings are seldomly found on holsters but they are very interesting for the collector to show the provenance of military artefacts and give a little inside view of the workflow. Holster shows wear but is fully functionable. A small hole is in the toe section, due to carrying wear. This is only on the outer part. The reverse side is untouched. It proves the holster saw use and was not just a drawer sleeper. An historic artefact with an interesting marking for the Imperial German pistol collector as well as for the holster collector. Never treated by modern leather preservatives. Not discolored by oil or any other residues. An honest piece. New reduced international shipping rate of $8.00.- to the USA. Private sale. No return policy. The holster is in Germany and will be shipped from there via AirMail as a recommended parcel to the US for $8 (uninsured) but trackable. This will take at least 10 to 12 business days of pure shipment time. After payment is cleared I will ship out the item between 1 and 2 business days. For other countries please ask for s+h rates.
