ca 1740-1750. .60 caliber, 26` tapered octagonal barrel. Unsigned flintlock rifle. The walnut stock of this Jaeger rifle is of American Black walnut, which doesn`t prove that the piece was stocked or made in America. This suggests that it might have been made in the U.S. Overall, the piece is a strongly Germanic-style rifle with deep carvings around the tang and through the wrist and on the buttstock. Brass buttplate, trigger guard, nosecap, ramrod thimbles, and brass nose cap. Period markings in India ink on the inside of sliding patchbox cover G. Siegert Easton, PA. Mar. 13th, 1864.
