This beautiful piece of history is from my late father-in-law's estate. He was a veteran of the World War II European Theatre, and this is one of many artifacts he brought home with him. Based on other similar swords that I have recently seen sell on Ebay, I believe that this may even be earlier than WWII, possibly as early as WWI. This could certainly be possible, as a WWII service veteran could have also fought in WWI, if he was in his 40s or 50s. I will state in advance that I am not knowledgeable on this type of item, am just relying on what I have seen and heard from others, and am just selling this and other items to settle his estate. This is a beautiful weapon with lots of detail. The lion still has its red eyes, and the tassel and knot are still t Scabbard shows some wear, t are also some minor surface cracks in the ivory on the handle, but this is in extraordinarily fine condition to be as old as it is!
