Antique Lead DonkeyWith Hinged Head and Gray Saddle Penny Bank From Germany Killarney Lakes Souvenir For Your Penny Bank Collection Details Description: Antique and rather scarce very nice penny bank. The bank which is made of lead, was most likely made in Germany and depicts a donkey with its head tilted to the right and having a rectangular red saddle blanket with a gray saddle. The donkey has a hinged head which would be secured to the body with a latch. Unfortunately, the hook that latches the head is broken but we believe it can be fixed. This bank was produced in Germany during the late 1800s and early 1900s. It is very well preserved and shows the details of the hair, eyes, mouth, ears and hoofs. It shows a red squared blanket under a gray saddle. The gray saddle has written on it "From Killarney Lakes" presumably in Ireland. This is a very nice piece with great details and colors and is very well preserved with minimum loss of paint. The donkey itself is gray colored with brown highlights showing the hair. His eyes are orangish-yellow with dark pupils, the squared saddle blanket is red and has an off-white border with an off-white belt holding it in place, and the donkey's mouth is highlighted with orangish paint.
