For auction is an original WW2 German DRESS BAYONET . This piece would complete your historic rifle and/or collection perfectly. Blade The blade is unmarked. The blade is tight with no wiggle. The grips are tight. The original leather washer is present. T is a piece of green felt in the handle slot. I don't think it is original, however. Original that I have seen fill the slot. This one does not. It has not been sharpened. The plating on the handle metal is mostly intact. It has worn off in a few spots, especially on the release button. The plating on the blade is in very nice shape with some light scratches. You can see a lot of scratches in the close-up of one ricasso. The very tip is ever so slightly turned up. I can try to get a picture for you if you would like. T is the unavoidable scuffing of the plating on the blade w it rubs against the scabbard spring. Even though these are called dress "bayonets" and have release mechanisms, they were not made to mount on a rifle. They were pretty much for German soldiers when they weren't on duty and wanted to impress the ladies with their shiny blades.Scabbard The frog stud is solid with no wiggle. Almost all the original black paint is present. The blade goes in and out smoothly. T are no dents. It is in excellent shape.Please let me know if you need any other pictures.
