Very nice example of an original German WWII-era M-40 beaded Luftschutz helmet with the correct front insignia and typical blue color of the Luftschutz organization. Interior of helmet retains original brown pressed paper headliner with two of the three helmet pads still present. Front pad shows wear and retains backing pouch. Left hand side pad is damaged and is missing pad but retains pouchbag. Helmet is complete with pressed paper black civic-style chinstrap and oval black metal buckles. Exterior and interior shell color show age appropriate wear and slight rust patina. Liner retaining bolts have never been removed or replaced; they are extremely tight. Shell interior is stamped "Q-64". Front Luftschutz insignia is in very good complete condition and shows age appropriate wear. Overall a very nice example of a helmet that is getting harder to find everyday. This helmet is from a long time local helmet collection that is being offered for the first time.
