Offered by Over The Blue Horizon and recently obtained in Tokyo is an exceptionally well-done, vintage (1996) publication from Model Art Publishing in Japan: "GERMAN SUPER HEAVY TANK MAUS." Scroll down for pictures! As any AFV expert can tell you, there's not a lot published on this particular German AFV, probably because there were only two prototypes built and both were partially destroyed by the Germans prior to their capture by Soviet forces at the end of WWII. Designed in 1942 by Ferdinand Porsche under direct order from Adolf Hitler, the MAUS was the largest tank design ever built. With a crew of 5 to 6 and weighing in at a massive188 tons, the MAUS was armed with a 128mm main gun and a coaxial 75mm cannon, and covered with 180-240mm of armor. This 112-page, 8.25 x 12.75 inch softcover, published in 1996 and printed on high-quality, glossy paper provides period b/w photographs, line drawings, Japanese text, and a few color photographs of both prototypes. This book also includes a good English language insert of the history of this super-AFV and the photographs are also accompanied by English language captions. Condition of the book is very good with only slight wear to the cover and its corners – it is tight, bright and clean in every respect! Overall, a very good book on the MAUS and a super addition to the library of any read more
