This antique METTLACH BEER STEIN from Germany is very decorative and it is a typical example for best ART NOUVEAU WARE, so also explained in the books from Gary Kirsner. The Stein with original lid is in mint condition, no chips, cracks or losses, no restoration. The Stein with #2935 is shown in colour in the Kirsner book (valued $ 650.00 +++, this 1/4 L Stein #2935 is unknown!). The beautiful Stein #2935, which we will sell now, comes from a whole set. T is also a 2 L. "master" (#2912) to #2935. The "master" (see photo) will be offered later. This treasure was stored over 100 years by our grandfather and father in a safe and soft box, near never used and so in best shape. A very delicate made handy object for real use, so may be never to find again. The detail of the Beer Stein is in nature better as you can judge on the photos. This Beer Stein was designed by Franz Ringer, one of the most popular arts and crafts designers of his time in Munich and he was one of the most prolific designers of Beer Steins. You find a lot of dates from Franz Ringer under google search. The Stein with leaves and barley in green, blue, white and yellow colours is full signed with Mettlach VB mark, ges. gesch., 2935, black painter-number, size V (0.25 L.), control-number 19 and year 05 (1905). So I find out with this object, that the Kirsner-book is wrong with the notice 0.3 L. for this stein. This object is so rare, that nobody noticed all the years before, that the real size is 0.25 L. = 1/4 L., so also impressed in this object (see photo). Or t are 0.25 L. and 0.30 L. Steins? I was sure, the Mettlach-specialists in the eBay-commune will give an answer, when we sold the first Steins of the set. But nobody has given us more details. So we think, this 0.25 L. Stein is unknown to the collectors and a first-rate rarity. This result is in accordance to the detailed appriciation to Franz Ringer, look under google search "Beer Steins designed by Franz Ringer", t is shown a photo from the Stein #2935 and the reference only to the 1/2L & 1L Steins, but no hint to the 1/4 L Stein, because the authors do not know the existence of a 1/4 L Stein #2935! Very interesting also, that in our set are different year-numbers, this object: year 05 (1905). If somebody can tell me about another existing 1/4 L Stein #2235, which comes not from our set last time, please let me know. I am not specialized in Mettlach objects, but I am sure, this outstanding fine Beer Stein in total very good condition will find a new home. Please look on the Photos. Hight of the Beer Stein is 4 7/8" (12,3 cms). As a gesture of fairness to all bidders, I will not respond to requests to reveal the fair reserve of this object. All other questions before bidding are very welcome. I will be glad to give answers to you. Please contact me after auction within 3 days, payment must be received latest 8 days after auction. Check will be cleared before shipment. Items are in a safe place, not in my home. But buyer can take the object by appointment direct from me at home. Otherwise item will be packed carefully and safe with own hands. Only exact shipping costs with insurance, carrier: UPS - Ground, no handling fees.
