Old Antique Vintage 1905-07 German Regimental Artillery Beer Stein2nd Fuss- Artillery 7th company 1905-07 Germersheim Description Offered for your collecting pleasure, the near mint reservist stein of Kanonier Georg Ertel, 2nd Fuss- Artillery 7th company 1905-07 Germersheim. It features a nice side scene of the reservists in training on a heavy mortar. The other side scene shows the reservists in the field training on a heavy field howitzer. The center scene shows a gun crew operating a heavy siege gun with a spotter at the top of the hill above a scene of the garrison town of Germersheim. Located near the French border, Germersheim has been important since Roman times when Julius Caesar made the Rhine River the border between Gaul and Germany. Germersheim was the scene of several conflicts between French troops and German veteran associations during the occupation of the Rhineland following the First World War. The colors on this stein are vibrant with the copper driving bands intact with no fading. The roster is bright with no fading. The pewter work is in great shape with a rampart Bavarian lion for a thumblift with a Stanhope glass eye. Unfortunately the micro picture in the stanhope has deteriorated long ago. There is a very minor tear on the inside of the pewter lid, where the lid attaches. Also, there is a very faint line
