18 (46 cm.) Solid domed paper mache shoulder head with light wax coating, rounded childlike face, bright blue glass sleep eyes, eyeliner, tiny open mouth with tiny teeth, blonde mohair wig in tight ringlet curls, muslin stitch-jointed body, composition lower arms and legs, painted white stockings with detailed modeling, and blue ankle boots with black tips. Condition: generally excellent, slight fading of facial features, roughness around eye sockets. Comments: Germany, circa 1860. Value Points: most appealing doll with rare style original body, wearing original wonderful costume of black taffeta sleeveless dress with black velvet trim and lace over embroidered white blouse, beautifully hand-edged white muslin apron, fine undergarments.
