WW 1 German first world war Iron cross 2 class with ribbon. Very good condition. The world famous German Iron Cross (Eisernes Kreuz) as awarded for Gallantry. Superior quality made of 3 piece construction with 2 extra fine Silver frames and 1 Iron centre magnetic core. I n a fantastic original condition considering this medal is over 90 years old now, it is 100% original. The Iron Cross is indisputably the most historically rich and notorious German award. Its long tradition dates back to 1813, when King Friedrich Wilhelm III of Prussia first instituted the order during the War of Liberation against Napoleon. The cross went on to be suspended from the uniforms of admirable German soldiers in the 1870 Franco-Prussian War, and again in 1914 for World War I.
