This 1/32 scale ( 54MM ) truck is a conversion using parts from several diecast toy vehicles. The inspiration for this conversion comes from a photo taken on the beach at Dunkirk immediately after the British evacuation ended. A group of German soldiers are examining a line of abandoned "Austin Tilly" light utility trucks. Hundreds such trucks were taken into German service after the fall of France. This truck represents a WWII German Army light utility truck and trailer serving on any European battlefield. The truck has rolling rubber tires. The trailer has solid cast metal wheels. The trailer body is made from the cargo bed pirated from a 1/32 scale diecast toy pickup truck. The trailer frame and chassis are cast metal. The cargo gate opens and closes. The trucks doors and hood open as well. On the truck I removed its original cargo bed and substituted a bed I cast in metal from the parts of an Opel Blitz 1/35 scale kit. I added numerous accessories to both the truck and trailer. The truck cargo includes ammo boxes, fuel drums, and a set of oxyacetelene welding tanks on a hand cart, all cast in metal. Hung from a pannier on the side is a pair of Jerry cans, along with a spare tire mounted to the side of the cargo bed and a bedroll hung by straps.
