German WWII Kriegsmarine R-Boat Flotilla Badge Extremely rare, locally produced badge depicting the unit insignia of the R-Boat (Raumboot) Flotilla Kanal. This group of vessels, used as motor minesweepers/layers and coastal escort vessels operated in the English Channel against allied shipping. It is die cast in solid brass and has a thin soldered pin assembly on the unmarked reverse. The badge was typically worn as a unit designation on the sides of visor and overseas caps. This unit insignia is shown in a period photograph and described in the book "E-Boats and Coastal Craft" by Paul Beaver. The badge is in fairly clean condition with only a minor surface patina. A rare example of this seldom seen unit insignia in excellent conditions. Any questions yu might have, please feel free to e-mail me.
