German WWII Luftwaffe Close-Combat/Boot Knife (Nahkampfmesser) Album Album Album Album Album Album Album Album Album NOTICE - 5 DAY AUCTION! Background : Offered for auction is a German WWII, Luftwaffe-Issue Fighting/Boot Knife with scabbard. This particular knife has the Luftwaffe "Eagle over 5" hallmark on the ricasso. Description : Fair - Good condition. This knife is a veteran of WWII and guaranteed to be of pre-1945 manufacture and use. As pictures show, this knife has some surface sharpening and scratches to an otherwise good blade with little metal loss. The wood grips are tight with a pleasing, aged patina and appears to have remnents of period black paint, some of which has worn off. It also has the letters "MEH" carved into the left side grip between the first and second rivets. The cross-guard is straight and tight. The blade appears to be full length. While hard to make out, the last picture shows that the ricasso bears the "Eagle over 5" Luftwaffe acceptance stamp. The scabbard for this knife retains about 50% of its black paint and the three-point prongs on the back is missing the small middle prong, but this is not obvious and the knife can still be inserted into a boot-top or tunic. As can be seen in the picture, there are two small indentations near the tip of the scabbard. A nice war-veteran WWII Luftwaffe read more
