German WWII Luftwaffe Forestry Bayonet with Frog
Luftwaffe Forstbeamte Seitengewehr

Among the Luftwaffe officials, t was a separate Forestry officials branch. They wore a green Forestry uniform cut in the general style as the air force uniform.

High ranking Forestry NCO's also wore a distinctive Seitengewehr with this uniform. This short sidearm was a cross between a short dress bayonet and the forestry cutlass worn by non-military officials.

The Seitengewehr for sale is this short NCO sidearm.

The bayonet has an overall lengths of 34.5 centimeters with a polished steel blade of 20 cm in the stiletto-like style. The blade is stamped with the retailer's name "Waffen-Loesche / Berlin" on the reverse ricasso. On the obverse the blade is stamped "Ch.A.W" and the blade spine is stamped with an "H".
Brown leather scabbard pad in place.

The grips are made of two pieces of shaped staghorn and are fixed to the tang with three nickel-silver screwbolts.

The scabbard is the standard black-painted steel scabbard.

The brown leather frog bears the L.B.A. embossed stamping to the back, designating issuance by the air force clothing depot.

The Seitengewehr is in great conditions with a very clean blade. The black scabbard retains 95% of its paint. The frog shows light use overall and is in solid conditions.

A very scare bayonet for the serious Luftwaffe collector.
