Supposedly taken in Italy in 1944 by a US soldier, but no further details available. Unmarked hexagonal blade, smooth, but with minor rust marking. Should clean up well, however. Spirally grooved ivory colored plastic grip rates very good. Pommel and grip ferrule with oak leaf decoration. Cross guard with eagle and swastika on obverse, plain on reverse. Grip and cross guard are somewhat loose, as commonly found. Chrome plated pebbled brass scabbard with two carrying rings decorated with oak leaves. Some of the chrome is flaking, especially on the edge with the carrying rings, as often found with field use. Overall dagger in very good condition, scabbard good. Overall length 14 3/4", less scabbard.
