Just brought out from the closet after 60 years storage. This exceptional set consisting of bayonet, scabbard and leather frog were retrieved from battle in Northern France by retired Colonel Richard S. Davis, who currently resides in Northern Wisconsin. While the blade and scabbard fit perfectly, the photo will show that the serial numbers do not match. The 210mm (8-3/8") blade shows no post factory sharpening and is in excellent condition. Hardwood grip is worn, but in very good condition. The release mechanism works perfectly. Leather frog is marked D. Sohn, Frankfurt on the back; "N1" is stamped on the face. Nickel plated scabbard shows normal wear. The successful bidder will also receive a letter from Col. Davis which will certify the approximate date and location in France from which this item was retrieved. If you wish additional information, please forward your request and we will promptly reply.
