Germany 1883 Reformation Martin Luther Wedding Cup

From Germany, 1883, pewter. This is a very interesting antique. Appears to be a marriage cup, meant for bride or groom to drink wine at their wedding. 3 1/2" inches tall, 3" diameter across the mouth. 25 mm medallion of Martin Luther on the side. Extremely elaborate incised chasing around the cup. Two-dimensional design including apples, grapes, butterflies. Opposite the Luther medal is a medallion that says "Ein Feste Burg ist unser Gott" (A mighty fortress is our God) ... needless to say, you won't see this item very often. The bottom reads 1883 / Dr. M. Luther / 10. Nov. 1483. It appears the metalworker's shop mark reads "WMB." Your shipping charge will be a modest $4 ... or $6 insured. Enjoy.
