5...4...3...2...1 THUNDERBIRDS ARE GO! FAB - The Genius of Gerry Anderson 2011 Royal Mail Stamp Presentation Pack No. 450 FAB - The Genius of Gerry Anderson 2011 Royal Mail Stamp Presentation Pack No. 450 Date of Issue 11 January 2011 The fully illustrated Presentation Pack contains the six Gerry Anderson stamps and the Miniature Sheet on a separate designed carrier. Inside Anderson expert Chris Bentley interviews Gerry Anderson about how the shows were devised. The sheet’s Carrier Card explains how the microlenticular technology works in the words of Thunderbirds’ boffin Brains. The pack also contains a four-page folded ‘comic’ in the style of the 60s comic, TV Century 21. The insert was illustrated by Gerry Embleton, one of the original TV Century 21 illustrators, written by Stephen la Riviere and tells the story of how Thunderbirds came about. The set of six stamps illustrates six different Gerry Anderson shows through his heyday of TV entertainment - Joe 90, Captain Scarlet, Thunderbirds, Stingray, Fireball XL5 and Supercar. The Minisheet (held on a separate carrier card) uses micro-lenticular technology to show 36 frames of the launch sequence of Thunderbirds 1 to 4 as you turn it through an angle. The outer space monitoring station Thunderbird 5 is shown in the border. The first such stamps issued in the UK. Stamp read more
