Gerstner & Sons Model 42 Apprentice Toolbox Chest This toolbox is in great condition for it's age. It has 11 drawers, which is different due that most model 42 chests have 10 drawers. See /toolchests/42.htm for more details. T is a date on the back of the middle drawer. (see pics) from December 29th 1952. I cannot guarantee that's the exact age, but more than likely it is. What makes this toolbox different from many other Gerstner toolboxes is that the felt lining is RED and not GREEN . The box measures 20" x 15 3/4" x 9 1/2". The wood is in great shape, the drawers pull smoothly, the mirror is in excellent shape and the felt is also very clean. This would be a great box for any hobbiest for machinist. Also included is a grey fitted leather cover and original wood finish preserver oil. **Please note that the key is missing** I've seen auctions for blank keys or any locksmith should be able to make a key.
