This is is a lidded beer stein made in Germany by Gerz. It has a ceramic body with a pewter and ceramic lid. The body has a gray, matte finish except for a gray, glossy glaze band just below the rim and base, and a black, glossy glaze slightly up from the base.

The sides are handpainted with drawings of people dressed in clothing from days of old. The top of the lid has a floral design. T are four thin gilt bands around the stein, two near the top and two near the base. T are two blue and gray embossed bands between the gilt bands. The interior is an off-white color ceramic.

The stein is 5-1/2 inches high to the top of the lid. It is 6-1/2 inches high to the pewter thumb push. It has a 4 inch diameter at the base. The capacity is 0.5 liters or almost 17 ounces. The stein is in near mint condition except for a little discoloration on the unglazed underside base area and a couple of minor glaze pops on the sides.
