10 x 12 inch mounted original photograph showing a remount section of the Gettysburg Battlefield. Very clear and sharp image showing a wagon along side of Marsh Creek with a man near the stream. It looks like the man has a bunch of stuff on his back but I cant make it out. Looks like a nice place to drop a fishing line in the water. On the back in original ink somebody wrote "ON MARSH CREEK NEAR GETTYSBURG BALTIMORE PIKE" i see no indication of any photographer's name. Im sure the picture was taken during the war or very soon afterwards. One of my friends who is a Battlefield Guide for the Park Service thinks this is w the Confederates of Johnson's Division crossed the creek to attack the Union right flank at Culp's Hill. Ive seen thousands of Gettysburg Photographs before but Ive never seen this view. Deserves more serious research. See other items this seller has to offer
