HUGE 20 GALLON STONEWARE CROCK WITH BALE HANDLES, MARKED "WESTERN STONEWARE COMPANY MONMOUTH ILL." ALSO MARKED WITH "20" and 3 LEAF CLOVER ON EACH SIDE. CENTER SHOWS BIG BLUE MAPLE LEAF. EXCELLENT CONDITION, RARE. The crock is 22 1/4 inches high and 18 1/2 inches in diameter. The walls are 1 1/2 inch thick at the lip. The original bale handles are in place, and the crockery cylinders that hold the wire are unchipped. The black wooden handles are spooled and are 4 inches long. They are perfect. The handles protrude 5 inches. I can see no chips or cracks, and the lip is pristine. T are areas from manufacturing w the glaze was not applied smoothly, and t are tiny little bubbles throughout, but I can see no damage or problems with condition. Bottom is unmarked. This is dirty, and t are blotches of rust inside bottom, from storing old tools; I used rust remover on a tiny spot, and it came right off; since I am not an expert, I stopped t This was passed from my Great Aunt Rose from Adair-Casey, Iowa, to my mother, who used it to collect clothes at the bottom of the clothes shoot, and to me about 20 years ago. This has been in the family for 100 years at least. It is wonderfully useful, but I'm moving again and have decided not to move it one more time! Please ask questions or request more pictures, especially if crocks are your specialty. read more
