is a beautiful old collectible, large green, (with an unusual yellowish tint) original Japanese glass float. It measures 12 inches in diameter, 40 inches in circumference. When used by commercial fishermen, this float was connected on a long string of ropes to suspend their fish nets. This float has the original rope ends off each side, as shown in the photos, plus the intricate web of net, individually woven by talented hands, for each float. This item also has a very rare plastic threaded base, possibly used in the blowing process and unable to be removed, or to attach some other hardware. Either way, it is an unusual abnormally. Very rare in itself, and I have never seen it before, in the many I have viewed. Bubbles can be seen within the glass, as is normal, in the blowing process, and soil from it's travels across the ocean, to America, remain imbedded in the hemp. T is a tiny 'pock-mark', as can be seen in photo four, which probably happened when it came ashore, but otherwise the glass and hemp are in excellent collectible condition. All making this a perfect addition to any collection, or used for home or office decor. The weight exceeds 9 pounds, thus the shipping cost. These giant floats are selling for around $250 in gift shops, when they can be found, throughout the Northwest to Alaska. We travel far and wide searching for treasures other people will enjoy.
