MEGALODON , meaning "BIG TOOTH" I have up for bid a beautiful Megalodon Tooth; a tooth that was once inside the gigantic mouth of a Megalodon Shark; a killing machine that was bigger and heavier than a Tyrannosaurus Rex, and lived in the sea covering the eastern part of North Carolina during the Miocene and Pliocene epochs, approximately 23.8 to 2 million years ago; having become extinct during the later part of the Pliocene epoch. At approximately 52 feet or more, and in excess of 60 tons, the Carcarodon Megalodon, also known as the Megatooth Shark, is believed to be the largest predator of the oceans. With its ability to open its jaws a minimum six feet wide and seven feet high, the mouth would easily be large enough and expand enough for its favorite prey; whales! Like todays Great White Shark, believed to be the Megalodon's decendent, the teeth grew in rows and when Megalodon would loose one tooth, another would move into its place. This specimen is in wonderful condition; with the massive, dense root and dark enamel of this tooth completely intact with no peeling or breakage! It is a fine specimen except for the absense of the serrated edges, the size and condition alone make up for that one flaw. It is priced well below others in this condition. What most people don't realize is that the Megalodon's teeth are mostly found in rivers and not the oceans! This is because millions of years ago the land we now live on was covered by the sea w these teeth were lost through age, and eating. It was common, through grabbing and sinking their teeth into their prey, they would lose teeth; the same as the Great White Shark of today. The lost teeth were then buried by sand and muck, and over millions of years they literally turned to stone. When the ocean receded, the rivers were formed by the currents and water flowing down hill from the mountains until evenutally the coastal rivers that now exist were formed. The rivers evenually carved their way into the land and the deposits w these teeth lay waiting to be discovered by divers that literally take their lives in their own hands finding, and retrieving them! These rivers are now filled with Sting Rays, Alligators; and yes, even sharks of today! The strong currents constantly turn over the bottom of the rivers and the divers have to virtually feel their way around the dark waters to find these treasures! A lot of divers don't make it; as skilled as they are thousands have been lost in the currents. Doing this is definitly not for the amateaur diver! A widely accepted way of estimating the size of the Megaldon Shark is by measuring the diagonal length of its four upper front teeth. The diagonal length of a tooth is measured from the longest root corner to the tip of the tooth. This theory states that t would be approximately ten feet of shark for every one inch of tooth. The Megalodon's teeth have been found in excess of seven inches in length! This tooth measures 5 1/4 inches long which means, even if this isn't one of those four front teeth, the shark whose mouth it came from all the years ago, would have been at least 50 feet long! If that isn't shocking enough; consider this...We can also estimate that a full grown Megalodon Shark would have weighed up to eight times as much as a full grown Tyrannosaurus Rex! This tooth is real, and so was the shark that it came from; it truly existed on this earth! This tooth has not been altered or repaired...it is the real McCoy! Wouldn't you like to own a virtual piece of aquatic history? Don't miss your chance; these teeth are getting harder and harder to get, only because they're getting harder to find! The stand "MEGALODON" that you see in the picture holding the Megatooth is free with your purchase! I ACCEPT UNITED STATES POST OFFICE MONEY ORDERS ONLY! NO PAY-PAL, NO PERSONAL CHECKS, AND NO CASHIERS CHECKS! CONTACT IS EXPECTED WITHIN TWO DAYS OF AUCTION END, AND PAYMENT IS EXPECTED WITHIN SEVEN DAYS OF ...
