Giant prim MAN IN THE MOON Halloween folk art lantern

This very large, whimsical and unique man in the moon lantern was entirely hand made and sculpted out of a highly durable and strong paper mache by me, the artist. The mouth and eyes I actually carved out. I made paper inserts for the eyes and mouth. It has a rustic wire hanger, will look magnificent hanging out from a metal stand or from a rafter..It could be used with a real candle...or even better, a battery operated light. It is double sided, a unique face on each side, one was somewhat taken from one of my favorite vintage Halloween postcard man in the moon images. I have added layers upon layers of paper mache and painted acrylic washes to look time worn and vintage. The colors are a time worn golden yellow, with layers of rough texture and patina, just like the real moon's cratered surface! I hope it will bring a smile to someone out t, and really be used and cherished as I have put hours of work into this piece! Each one of these takes me a week from start to finish. This one is especially large, 40 inches in circumference and roughly 16 inches high, with the metal wire hanger adding another 4 inches. It is well crafted and will come to you with an acrylic varnish, ready to hang and light, I reccomend an electric light bulb or battery powered votive. This piece will really brighten up your Halloween, or even be great out all year! Please feel free to e mail me with any questions. The paper inserts can be removed for a more primitive look.
