A rare offering, a very unusual specimen from a private meteorite collection. This piece was popular with guests who came to see our collection because of its dramatic appearance as an angular meteoritic sculpture. Originally collected a long time ago, as it was among the most unusual Gibeons. Formed by its fiery entry into the Earth's atmosp, the specimen is loaded with gorgeous and varied regmaglypts that arch along a knife-like edge, and beautiful color all of which make it an unquestionable cosmic work of art. 4.5 pounds, or 2.0 kilograms. Once commonly seen, Gibeon meteorites of this size are now becoming increasingly rare since Gibeon is the only meteorite that is used to make meteorite jewelry, rings, watch faces, large sps, and pyramids. Thus large specimens of this finite meteorite are quickly disappearing. From the Catalogue of Meteorites, 5th Edition, pg. 214: "Gibeon, Great Nama Land, Namibia. Found 1836. Iron, Fine Octahedrite." We have been complemented many times on our careful packaging. The meteorite will be wrapped in tissue paper, then small cell bubble wrap, followed by large cell bubble wrap, placed in a box, and then placed in a larger box for maximum protection during shipment. Upon delivery by Registered Mail, signature will be required. This particular meteorite would not only be the aesthetic centerpiece in a meteorite collection, but also would hold its own on display along with fine sculpture and art.
