This is the first non-polished, non-etched piece I'm putting out here to give you a chance to save some money and get a chance to own an excellent piece of the Gibeon meteorite!
This big corner piece of the Gibeon meteorite is one of the nicest shapes I've cut! It is a triple-cut piece that was sliced close to the crust like a slice of ham. One side shows nothing but the pure crust as burned on entry into the atmosphere, the other three sides can be polished and etched. One of the greatest things about this piece is that you can display it however you like: crust front, flat with shiny sides or whatever you can think of... I will polish and etch the sides if you want to for 35% of the sale price, but to save you on costs I'm putting it out here as seen. It is composed of taenite and kamacite, two different crystalline varieties of an iron-nickel alloy, which form alternating parallel crystal bands in a characteristic triangular pattern called the Widmanstätten Pattern . Besides iron, Gibeon Meteorites contain an average of 8% nickel, and trace amounts of chromium, copper, zinc, gallium, germanium, and iridium. weight: 350 grams dimensions: 80 x 80 x 24 mm (3.2 by 3.2 by 0.9 inches) location: Found in 1836, Gibeon, Namibia, SW-Africa. Please look at my other listings, as I combine shipping costs I am currently cutting a big chunk of Gibeon pieces, so if there is anything you are looking for specifically (end pieces, thick slices, etc.) please let me know so that I can custom make it for you. This may take a while though.
