1970's Gibson Ripper Bass This is a 1970's Gibson Ripper Bass in BLACK! with case. I bought this less then a year ago on Ebay.It has recently been set up/fret job done by Nelly Guitars Hollywood ,CA. Sad to have to let this beauty go it sounds thunderous! but have to sell to fund another project. Not sure what the actual year is but believed to be about a 78'.. the serial number has faded out. THIS IS A USED INSTRUMENT and DOES have nicks and scratches .. I would consider this to be a pretty good condition bass but by NO MEANS is this in mint or museum quality .This bass has been played and is over 30 years old. As the saying goes "they don't make 'em like they used to" This is a rock solid bass ready to be played! The Ripper has been made famous by bands such as Nirvana and The Band. Here is some info about the Ripper taken from a 1975 Gibson Catalogue 1975 Ripper L9-S BODY SPECIFICATION Solid alder body with contored shape (maple 1973-74, and 1977 onwards) Double cutaway design contored shape 3-point adjustable Tune-o-matic bridge with handrest Combination tailpiece (strings enter through body or connect at end of bridge) Two Gibson "Super humbucking" pickups Master volume, midrange and treble roll-off controls 4-position transfer switch for multiple tonal changes Available in Natural or Ebony body finish Body size: Length read more
