's a wonderful early Gibson & Son teapot in great condition. It has a dynamic gold arch pattern with raised white, orange and blue painted floral design on two sides. As you can see in the images, the patterns are wonderful and full of small detail. The lid is present, original and in excellent shape also. The markings on the bottom of this piece are interesting also. It seems to be an initial style or pattern marking as it is marked in 5 different ways. The first and most obvious is gold stamped, "CAPITOL, Gibson &Sons Ltd, Burslem England, RE Go No 7?4776." The second marking is another gold block letter stamping that says, "GIBSONS made in England." The bottom is also impressed with, "GIBSONS ENGLAND." In the same gold paint used to create this piece, it is handmarked 1/1, as in possibly the first piece of this CAPITOL pattern. In another type of non-reflective paint or marking is marked, "X169A M." From handle to spout tip it measures approximately 9" and from bottom to top of lid it stands approximately 5 1/2" tall. Very minor wear, no chips. A unique piece by Gibson, which is probably a pattern marked early piece. Enjoy your bids!
