This is a GIANT, sharply serrated pre Megalodon Chubutensis shark tooth from the world famous Lee Creek phosphate mine in Aurora, North Carolina. Chubs are a lot more rare than megs at LC, and a 3" tooth is considered very large. This Monster blows away all the chubs I have seen from this location with it's perfect upper principal position shape, large, irregular serrations, great root shape and an intact bourlette. Add the cool color patterns and you have a real show stopper. Then you add the size. If it had a tip, it would be over 5", the old holy grail size for a LC meg. That and some enamel lift on the display side keep this from being a 4k tooth. This is a very old find, not fresh from the mine which is closed to collecting.
