NICE! Early Gil Hibben piece from 1975! A quality hand made piece of unsurpassed beauty and design combined with Native American/Eskimo art and Ivory from the great Sperm Whale. The knife is presented with a hand made native Alaskan cottonwood box commerating the 1975 Fur Rendezevous. The knife is a product of skilled professionals. Gil Hibben of Anchorage, considered by many to be one of the finest knife makers in the world, is responsible for the production of the knife itself. The finely hand engraved ivory handle, a tooth or the Artic Sperm Whale, is the work of Peter Mayac, a King Island Eskimo whose work is highly sought after by collectors. The hand made presentation box is made by Walter Rowell, Bob Levine is the sheath maker and the metal engraving was done by Bob Donettie, all Alaskans. The knife was a very limited Edition with only 175 made with number "0" going to the winning musher of the 1975 World Championship Sled Dog Race held during Fur Fondy. This knife is numbered #133. Also included with this auction is an Ivory Walrus Tooth Scrimshaw Raindeer letter opener that was hand done by famous Alaskan artist Dean Janosko. T are also 6 older Fur Rondy commerative pins and 5 buttons from the 1970's and 1980's. Everything including the knife are in excellent like new condition. The knife has never been carried or sharpened and has remained in the box for over 30 years! Very Rare and Very Nice! ALL offers considered! Buyer pays 20.00 USPO Inusred Priority S&H.
