This is an EXTREMELY BEAUTIFUL example of a Gilbert Mantle Clock in SUPER ALL ORIGINAL condition. It was made about the turn of the century and runs great! It is a very classy mantle clock in need of a warm loving home. It has a very clean signed "Gilbert Clock Co" 8 day time and strike movement which chimes the half hour and counts the hours on the hour with a sound that is very pleasant and dignified! It chimes on a chime rod. The clock runs beautifully and keeps very good time. Has a very pleasant ticking sound as it runs. The movement runs very well and keeps good time. The movement was just cleaned, oiled, pivots polished and bushings added w needed. This clock will not need servicing for many years to come, and is ready for the next 100 years! This is a labor intensive service, with many clockmakers charging 250.00 and up.We recommend having it oiled every 2 to 3 years to keep it in tip-top shape! With the purchase of this clock for an additional $ 2.25 we will include an oiler kit with a professional oiler loaded with enough oil to oil approximately 50 clocks with easy instructions so you could even do it yourself! The case is beautiful! The case is made of solid walnut (not veneer) in a beautiful style, in great condition with its original finish with a great antique patina. It must have been made by a master craftsman by the quality of the construction. The case has no extra screw holes (showing that this is the original movement, dial, etc.) and the original screws that are tight! The finish looks great. The signed dial is in great condition. The numbers are not faded at all. The brass around the dial is original (also has a nice antique patina). The hands are original. One thing I really like is its original back door with the original label. Complete with its original pendulum and a new American double ended key! The small end of the key is to adjust the clock for slow and fast on the dial and the large end is for winding the clock. This way you donâe(tm)t have to take the clock down off its shelf to adjust it for slow and fast. The clock measures 10 1⁄4 inches high, 6 1⁄2 inches deep, and 20 1⁄2 inches wide. These antique clocks amaze me - could you imagine any other consumer product still working after nearly 100 years! And the truly amazing thing with proper care they will work easily past the next 100 years! The original guarantee was for one year. I wonder what the maker would think; a hundred years later his product is still working like new and listed on the world wide internet! Antique Clocks are a Fine Investment. Each one has a unique quality, as well as appreciating in value and beauty with age. You will become attached to your antique clocks and they will become a meaningful and important part of your life adding untold joy each day you own them.
