Independence Razor 4 Generations of Craftsmanship In 1934 the Aristocrat became the first twist-to-open razor Gillette made. Production continued until 1951. This one has no dating codes or marking – suggesting it is one of the older ones. The Aristocrat is an outstanding, smooth shaver – a bit more of an aggressive shave than some other Gillette models. The plating and overall condition are excellent. It actually looks like it was never used. Doors close well. The box is nice on the inside, but not in good condition on the outside. It looks like a stripe of adhesive tape was across the top and is not going to come off. The blade clip is in excellent condition. There is a full box of Gillette Thin blades. One end of the box is torn open, but all of the blades are there and have never been taken out.
