is a very rare 1922 bottom marked 3 ¾" tall by 5 ¾" wide silver plate lidded 8 oz. creamer pitcher / teapot type made for the Gilman's Hot Springs Hotel that was located in San Jacinto California. The area called Gilman's Hot Springs was named after William E. and Josephine Gilman, which William E. Gilman was also the owner of the hotel resort. The Hotel was a very popular 200-room hotel located in Riverside County. The hotel advertised as being "Famous for it's Natural Hot Tulle Mud and Sulphur Water Sweat Bath, Excellent Mineral Drinking Water and Delightful Climate." "Sweat Bath for Guest $0.50, Transients, $1.00." "Four De Luxe Motor Transit Stages daily from Los Angeles, Calif., Santa Fe R.R. to San Jacinto, Calif., Southern Pacific R.R. to Beaumont, Calif." The hotel offered its guest many amenities, such as golf, horse back ridding, and so on. As the years passed, the hotel ceased operation and the property was placed into private ownership. This creamer / teapot is from the glory days of the resort in the 1920's and was used in the hotel's cafeteria (pictured below) / dining rooms and for room service, and used in connection with the hotel's china for table service. It is silver soldered / nickel silver. The teapot is in exceptional condition and looks great! It has the usual light usage dings, and some light scratching but overall looks wonderful. The inside of the teapot does have some very light corrosion and pitting, but appears to still be functionally suited. The teapot is marked on the bottom "Gilman's Hot Springs - San Jacinto". It was made by the Gorham Silver Co. and is marked as such. This teapot was not a souvenir; rather, this is the heavyweight type Railroad and Steamship silver. A wonderful addition to your San Jacinto, Hotel, Pitcher / Creamer / Tea pot, or Silverplate collection and it is ready to display. As a geographical note, San Jacinto is located near Los Angeles, Lakeview, Hemet, Valle Vista, Winchester, Mountain Center, Thomas Mountain, Soboba Indian Reservation, Rancho Palm Springs, Banning, Beaumont, San Bernardino, Cherry Valley, Yucaipa, Palm Desert, Murrieta, Temecula, Fallbrook, Sunnymead, Loma Linda, and Thousand Palms. The digital images do not show the teapot that well. The actual teapot looks much better than what the digital images shows it as.
