in cherry and figured cherry and mahogany veneer, with poplar and pine secondary woods. Broken-arch pediment with free-standing turned columns, and diamond drop plinth at center (never had a finial). Waist has canted corners, crotch cherry veneer on the door, and cross-banded mahogany inlay below cove molding and surrounding dial and base. Wide waist molding above paneled base with ebonized quarter-round molding, crotch-veneered panel, and turned feet. English 8-day bell strike movement (unsigned), painted dial with European landscape in the dial arch, flowers in the spandrels, Roman numerals, and signed R. Gilmore / Cincinnati at center. Clock retains original glass, lock, and key, as well as old, probably original weights and pendulum. A fine Cincinnati case; 90.25" high x 20.5" wide x 10.5" deep.Condition: The Furniture Makers of Cincinnati 1790-1849
