Gilt Bronze VIENNA Clock PSYCHE Mythology Love c1830 NR This fine statue clock is made around 1830 in Austria/Vienna, it has going work, striking work and repetition on demand. Bronze and gilt bronze parts, square base with acantus rims and stand ornament, upright winged figure with torch, as the mythological goddess Psyche, holding high the gilt bronze movement case. Psyche was in the Greek mythology the personification of the human soul, of love and of science. She was so lovely that Amor, the god of love, fell in love with her. Dial door with rounded glass window set in a fine engraved rim. At the side the chord for striking repetition on demand. White porcelain enamel dial, Roman and Arabic numerals and brass sawed hands. Signature : “Joseph Dupra in Wien” French clockwork with pendulum on silk suspension, more days going work, striking the full hours on a bell. Wind-up key included.
