No 4779 c1717This is a gilt metal pair cased verge movement made by the illustrious George Graham circa 1717 – 1718.The watch has a LATER case and a LATER dial and also an incorrect minute handThe watch is running and keeps good time but the minute hand keeps catching on the hour hand and stopping the watch from running. This needs to be corrected and due to this, we are selling the watch “as is” with NO refunds or returns acceptedMovement – the high quality gilt verge movement has Egyptian pillars and a finely pierce watch cock with a huge diamond endstone and a blue steel setting. The watch cock is also winged, features an engraved cherubic face and has a large pierced D shaped foot. The movement also features a silvered regulator disc and more raised work. The movement is signed “Geo Graham, London, 4779” and is in 90% mint condition – small marks onlyThe movement comes in a later but purpose made case. NOT a recaseInner case – the movement comes in a gilt inner case which has a hinged bezel and where the movement swings out from the front, is set from the front and wound from the backThe case has a smooth plain finish and is in 60% mint condition – around 60-70% of the gilding has come off the case. Plus part of the sleeve is missingOuter case – the outer case also has a smooth plain finish and has lost 99% of all its gilding and is a dull colourDial – the later white enamel dial again was made for the movement. It has mismatched blue steel hands and is in 99% mint condition – super clean conditionThe watch measures 50mm wide x 24mm deep The movement measures 39mm wide on the dial plate x 35mm wide on the back plate x 17mm deepThe watch has a mineral bulls eye glassThe watch is key wound / key set and comes with a keyOn the pillar plate, there are various scratch markings, possibly 'J.
