The Girl's Book of Heroines - D E Heming c.1948 ,Birn Brothers Ltd., London Nostalgic Inspiring stories for girls. Front cover shows a girl reading a books daydreaming with visions of various historic and sporting heroines in the background . Undated but inscription and research dates to circa 1946 - 1948. 188 Pages. Thick paper pages and profusely illustrated throughout with black and white illustrations and colour plates. Heroines are covered in sections - The Bible, Legend, History, The Arts, Leadership and service, Heroines of the War 1939. A very old and very rare book in lovely vintage condition. It has good clean contents with neat vintage ink gift inscription to front end paper. The pages have yellowed lightly with age. The black and white illustrations are still clear and the colour plates are all clean, pages are tightly bound. The original pastedown hardback cover is lightly faded in colour but clean with rubbed edge wear and minor paper loss in places and heavy rubbing and paper loss to the card corners. Fabric cloth spine is faded but still tightly binds the book together. We will pack securely or you are more than welcome to collect from Oxton Village, Nottinghamshire NG25 0SH.
