GLOBE-WERNICKE Very nice, very old 24 drawer card filing cabinet - great piece! Original finish with the original Globe Wernicke Co. metal tag still intact on front. ID tags on each section with part number. Unit consists of the patented Elastic Stacking System: Base, 2 Drawer Modules and Top each utilizing alignment pins as pictured. Cabinet measures 17.25"deep x 33" wide x 37.75" tall - each draw face measures 4.375" wide x 4 5/8" high. Drawers are 16" long. Great piece of victorian office furniture dated between 1911 and 1921 est. The unit has a few bumps and bruises, after all, it's old, but ORIGINAL! T are 2 drawer pulls missing. I guess it weights around 125 pounds, very sturdy and solid. Winning bidder agrees to pick-up or secure shipment. I do agree to secure to a pallet and shrink wrap for $60.00. A Little History 1893: The Wernicke Company was established in Minneapolis. Soon after, they invented and introduced the "Elastic Bookcase." . At the same time, the economic "Panic of 1893" left more than four million unemployed. A series of prior events had weakened the economy and undermined confidence in the market. These included the collapse of The Reading Railroad, an ongoing agricultural depression, a reduction in the surplus caused by the Sherman Silver Purchase Act of 1890 and lavish spending by the "Billion read more
