From my personal vintage jewelry collection: Up for auction is this absolutely magnificent Boucher necklace and bracelet set. The necklace is signed "Boucher", on the back of one end, along with a design number (maybe 5721, I'm not exactly certain, but it looks like it to me), on the back of the other. I cannot locate a signature on the bracelet, but t is no doubt that they are a matched set. It is a unique art-deco type set that I absolutely love, and I hope that this magnificent set finds itself a wonderful new home. A beautiful set, it looks almost never used. I say never used because it looks almost brand new, like it sat in a drawer all these years, as pristine as it was when it was new! All stones bright and sparkly! This is such a desirable bracelet, with this color of stones looking like the real thing. Both pieces contain several sizes of rounded oval-shaped, open-backed cabochons, some a light pink quartz shade and the other a brilliant amethyst quartz, both just glowing, and set in a design of carved, leafy, golden foliage. The links on the bracelet are all arched, so as to make the bracelet conform elegantly to the wearer's wrist. These stones are flanked by the opulent gold-toned designs. This is one of the most amazing sets, in both design and condition, I have seen in my years of collecting.Marcel Boucher was born in France and trained as an apprentice to Cartier. He immigrated to the United States in the early 1920's, and during the early 1930's, he designed jewelry for the Mazer brothers in New York. In 1937, he established the Marcel Boucher and Cie Company in New York and ran it until his death in 1965, when his wife, Sandra Boucher, who was also a jewelry designer, took over.Boucher produced the most exquisite costume jewelry, unsurpassed by any other, until it became a subsidiary of Dovorn Industries, a watch manufacturing company, in 1972. Boucher's jewelry reflects the classical tradition with highly creative and imaginative designs utilizing excellent rhinestones resembling true gemstones. Technically superb with excellent metalwork, his costume jewelry can easily be mistaken for the 'real thing'. While Marcel Boucher's talent and creativity has placed him among the very best of costume jewelry designers and producers, his work is just beginning to be fully appreciated. Accordingly, all of his jewelry is highly collectible and expected to rise in price. Highly sought after jewelry by Boucher is becoming harder to find in quality condition. This piece is in wonderful condition. All stones appear bright and clear. The metalwork needs a light cleaning, and has very little metal wear. All stones are intact. One purple stone on the bracelet looks to have a crack but I think that is just the stone. Minor but needed to be mentioned. Nothing mentioned detracts from the beauty of this set. Boucher jewelry is high end, and was always high end.... right from the begining. Very much sought after, Boucher has become one of the most collectible designers of today. The adjustable necklace measures approx. 17 1/2 inches long end to end, and 1 1/4 inches wide at the widest point of the centerpiece drop. The centerpiece is connected to either end by slinky golden serpentine chains. The bracelet measures approx. 7 inches long by 1 1/4 inches wide at its widest point. All hardware and working parts seem quite functional, and ready to wear. T is no safety, but it doesn't need one. This is a beautiful, high-end quality set in wonderful condition. It is quite heavy, and of the finest quality, as well as being absolutely gorgeous. All stones just shine brilliantly! This piece is of excellent quality and is very wearable. It is absolutely amazing to find one in this wonderful condition. This is an awesome Boucher set of superb quality! Always amazing, well-constructed, and always in style. You will not be disappointed in it! ***Pictures always make the pieces less brilliant & colorf...
