The Godfather (Paramount, 1972). British One Sheet (27 X 40 ). The picture that in many people s minds became the rarified standard that defined a genre. Director Francis Ford Coppola, writer Mario Puzo, and cinematographer Gordon Willis created the perfect atmosphere and dark mood to tell the Mafia story from the inside. The story behind the story of the making of the film was almost as angst-ridden as the screenplay. Director Coppola was almost fired by Producer Stanley Jaffe for hiring Marlon Brando as the Corleone patriarch, Vito. The breakthrough role of Michael Corlene for Al Pacino was originally offered to the likes of Warren Beatty, Jack Nicholson and Dustin Hoffman. There is wear on the fold lines with a touch more at the crossfolds, one small tear at the top, and border pinholes. The poster has been professionally restored, rendering these defects hard to detect. Fine+ on Linen.
