Note: The artwork of Franciscan nun Berta (Sister Maria Innocentia) Hummel was first produced in the three dimensional form by W. Goebel Porcelain in 1935. The figurines of these adorable children have been sought-after and treasured collectibles for over 70 years. In October, 2008, Goebel announced it was ceasing production of M. I. Hummel figures. However, to the relief of many collectors, on February 6, 2009, Goebel issued the following press release: Rodental/Frankfurt-Hochst, 06 February 2009. M.I. Hummel figurines have found a new home in an old location. Starting in February, the production of M.I. Hummel figurines is to resume in Rodental after ceasing in October 2008. The figurines have been popular throughout the world for over 70 years and are based on designs by Maria Innocentia Hummel. The resumption of production is possible thanks to a new investor who has taken over all the necessary rights and manufacturing facilities from former manufacturer Goebel Porcelain Factory. Manufaktur Rodental GmbH, which has been newly founded for the purpose, plans to resume operation initially with around 30 employees and will continue the tradition of M.I. Hummel production in Rodental. Over the next several weeks we will be offering our entire collection of these charming figurines of children, all genuine Goebel of Germany, most with Trademarks 2, 3, 4, and 5 produced prior to 1980, and all at super reasonable pricing.
