Beautiful Wedgwood Jasperware trinket box – the "Perseus Necessaries Box”, in excellent condition. This is a hard-to-find item, coming from a limited edition of just 400 issued for the Wedgwood Collectors Society in 1973. Black jasperware hexagonal lidded box with a gilt cameo head of Perseus, modeled by John Flaxman, one of Josiah Wedgwood’s most famous artists. This box came from my grandparents estate. Marks: Marked on the underside of the lid in gold with a miniature profile of Josiah Wedgwood, and around it the words: The Wedgwood Collectors Society . The impressed mark on the underside of the base reads: WEDGWOOD, MADE IN ENGLAND 73 and the letter W. Date: 1973. Condition: Excellent, very clean, no noticeable wear or loss of gold on the cameo. No cracks, chips, losses, hairlines, staining or repairs. Size: Trinket box is 3 inches in diameter (7.7 cm) or 3.5 inches (8.7 cm) from corner to corner and 1.6 inches (4.1 cm) tall. Please email me with any questions. Thanks for looking!
