Welcome to another one of my auctions for Idaho Gold! This river is located in a very rich gold producing area which sparked a small gold rush in the late 1800's and created the town of Murray for which this river runs near. A great spot, actually just right off the main highway!! As you can tell, a large landslide has swept away most of the mountain in this one little spot, right on a bend in the river, acting as a great little 'bar' for gold to pile up on! If you look closely you can see the different layers of sediment all pushed against this 'wall' from years of constant erosion - which has exposed ever so perfectly what used to be the bottom of the river. The landslide itself covers bedrock that is just banded with bull quartz.. Which naturally works itself free (and the gold around it) to fall down every year with much of the rest of the landslide. Large pieces of quartz are readily found everyw in this location. Some with gold still attached!! This is a great spot for beginners as you can easily find gold in every pan, and increased quantities of gold for the amount of time, and effort you put in to it. Great for a simple guy with a sluice box like me! :-) I've been coming to this general location on the river for years, but in the last 3 years this hill has eroded away and opened up a bounty of gold for all of us fellow prospectors! This should be a great bag of gold for you to practice your panning skills on, or add to your home collection! All the paydirt in this auction comes from this location in the pictures. These gravels came from the river, and are clean - classified to 1/4" - and ready for you to pan! Most of my bags of paydirt have usually been donated to local school science classes, or sold at street fair's and church bazaar's. Today I'm offering to you a little taste of my backyard!! It is uncertain how much gold is in each bag, but I do guarantee enough gold to make you wish you were living near this spot in North Idaho. It will surely make you smile.
