Description : This is an unusual spider brooch made from gold over another metal, probably silver. The spider stands on two parallel bars with a prong set cultured pearl at each end. The maker has used a baroque pearl to form the abdomen of the arachnid. The brooch dates from the late 1930s into the 1940s. The brooch weighs 5.6gms and is approximately 5cm in length, the makers initials appear to be JC, there is a 4-6 figure number that contains the figures 25 and other marks on the spider's legs. A lovely brooch probably made in Continental Europe, e.g. Austria.
