GOLD HEAD Red Throat DRAGON WARE Tea Set JAPAN Mark WOW An UNUSUAL, UNIQUE Japanese TEA SET Three (3) Serving Pieces with LIDS ~See my other AUCTION with 3 Small PLATES in this SAME "DRAGON" Pattern!!~ From the early 1900's, I believe! From an article in the Chicago Sun Times, Fri. Jan. 15,1999: "This antique ORIENTAL tea set is a variant of 'Dragon Ware' and was produced in Japan, perhaps between the world wars. Colorful, whimsical and exotic, this style was popularized in the West during the 1890's, and is still manufactured today in Japan and several other Asian countries." EXCELLENT CONDITION **BUT, a few 'small white dots' are missing on one part of one HANDLE of the COVERED SUGAR BOWL. AND, a few very small 'flecks of gold' seem to be missing from the 'open mouth' DRAGON SPOUT of this Outstanding TEA POT!** FINE CHINA with RED Hallmark/Stamp: "Made in Japan " "(W j)" and another Hallmark/Stamp in BLACK : "Made in Japan " "( W j )" (see picture) CREAMER with LID: 2.5 in.
