Up for auction is a spectacular vintage charm. It's age is unknown and was previously owned when I received it in the 80's, and it's been in the safe ever since. It is very unique and I have never seen one similar. Very large and heavy, it will need a heavy bracelet or chain (if someone chooses to wear it), but it would be a lovely curio display and conversation piece. It winds up like a watch, and the horses actually race each other in motion, as their front legs raise and lower until it unwinds. I've decided it should belong to someone who would really enjoy it- a wonderful Valentine's Day gift for the horse racing lover. It was appraised with other jewelry for insurance purposes June 8, 1991. T are minor surface scratches on the base which could be likely be buffed away, and minor wear on the enamel. The appraisal in the photos reads: Charm/Pendant, 14k yellow gold (Stamped 14k Dankner Pat No 3247685), consisting of a circular base cage containing an oval, green enamel fence with two (2) three dimensional horses with enameled jockeys. Three 3/4 round 1.3mm wide gatd wires form a cage with a center jump ring bale. The cage is accented by four heads set with a total of two (2) round mixed cut, strong blue natural sapphires measuring 3.0mm in diameter and two (2) round mixed cut, purplish red natural rubies measuring 3.0mm in diameter. The base is fitted with a stem wind mechanism which puts the two horses in motion. Weight of charm: 25.0 grams. Replacement Value/Retail: $1,250.00. *All weights are approximate. Stones graded only to the extent the mounting permits. Please email me with any questions prior to bidding. I am no gemologist, and the description contained within the appraisal is the extent of my knowledge of this piece. Winning bidder agrees to pay via PayPal within 24 hours. I will ship USPS Priority Mail or, overnight if needed as a Valentine gift! Extra shipping charges will apply. Contact me with this request. Thanks for looking and good luck! Thank you for your interest and questions! I have added another picture for example. It is quite large for a charm. The base sits just inside the rim of a quarter, and it measures approximately 1.25" in height. The only difference in color each side is in the flags. On one side, an enamel green and white flag, the other is red and white with slightly more wear. For clarification: The enamel on one jockey's jersey is yellow, the other in a red jersey. Some wear on their white pants and black boots. Mechanism runs strong and has a soft whirring sound, while the jockeys click as they strike the base. Charming, is a perfect word! Thanks again for your interest! Thank you again for your interest. I have added a photo of the opposite side and I apologize for the glare. The clearest photo this morning turned out to be the the shot taken in the sunshine.
