Please find for sale a Victorian 18ct gold and porcelain stick pin with a miniature painting of a St. Bernard dogs head. It is signed to the reverse with 'W B Ford 1865'. He is renouned for miniature animal portraits and his work is very well collected. SIZE (25.4mm to the inch approx) The size is of the pin head is 17.4mm across x 4mm deep. The total pin length is 80mm. WEIGHT (31.1g to the troy ounce approx) The weight is 5g. Gross. CONDITION. This is in fairly good condition with no damage to the gold work or sign of repair however the hallmark is slightly rubbed. As you can see there are numerous scratches to the painting, please bear in mind that my pictures are taken under 20x magnification and under studio lights; when viewed at arms length under normal lighting these scratches are not immediately visible. HALLMARKS & MAKER. The hallmarks on the pin head are for 18ct gold, Birmingham 1866- the pin also bears British gold assay marks. The back of the porcelain plaque is signed W B Ford 1865.
